So...How Did It Go?

James had a chill first day at school.  Typical.  Oh and sadly none of the girls he has been texting are doubled up in his classes.  I thought it would be funny and awkward.  For him.  Alas, he escaped.  Only one texting girl per class.

***

Spencer had a great first day of high school.  He went a week ago to do some theater stuff so he knew some kids.  And now he is on the lookout for a club that has weak leadership so he can easily take over.  His words, not mine.

***

Riley had a great first day of middle school.  I was not expecting that.  He struggles with change and new adventures and things not going completely the way he sees them going in his head.

But so far...no calls...no complaints.  Whew!

***

And this kid?

For months he has been fighting me about going to school.  He has done his reading lessons but he argued every time school was mentioned.

He clung to my hand.  Had a quivering lip.  But he stayed in class when I left him.

And he had  a great day.

I picked him up after school and he was happy.  Yay!

And then he had early bedtime again last night.  (As opposed to late bedtime during summer.)

And no electronics.  Electronics live in mom and dad's room at night during the school year.  Ev tried to sneak in no less than four times to play a game on his switch.  Sigh.

Then this morning when I explained that he had to get breakfast so we could go to school, he cried out, "School?!  I have to go to school again?!"

Yep.  For the rest of the next eleven years of your life at least.  Sorry bud.

To his credit, he threw a fit and then collected himself.  We made it to school right on time.  Cannot wait for tomorrow...
