A Little Moving Around...
Our couch is dying. It is solid but the fabric is breaking down and peeling. I can sew but not well enough to bring it back to life. Not the arms anyway. Maybe the cushions.
And the coffee table has been with us since we bought it as poor college students in the scratch and dent section for $50 (with a second table included) fifteen years ago.
So they are not as pretty as they used to be.
But I moved some furniture around and pushed the couch back a little to show some of the fireplace. I also added a chair from upstairs to add a little extra seating. That chair has been with us at least a decade. Thank you, Ikea!
Now I just need to sort through all the bins and get rid of media the kids don't use or need anymore.
I hate banged up furniture but I have four boys and the thought of buying new right now makes me want to cringe. They would do something to slightly muss the new stuff and I would lose it. Wailing and gnashing of teeth for sure.
So we live with the scratches and dents and comfortability of imperfect. Now if only I could find a way to save the armrests of the couch...anyone know any tricks to keep faux leather from peeling? If I could figure that out, I would muster the courage to cover the cushions with new fabric.
Room Rearranging
Our family room needs some help. We have a fireplace on one wall and a tv on another. Husband will not switch the tv because there is already a mount in the wall and we would have to repair the wall if we changed it.
So.
How do I make this room work so both of the focal points are included in the furniture placement? Right now the tv gets all the love and the fireplace gets none.
Short of stealing my mother-n-law's awesome swing around red rocking chairs, I need a good plan. A sectional? A lounger? I tend to like giant ornate furniture. Think Louis XVI. But I need it to not overwhelm the space.
And I need it to be kid ruin proof.
Did I just push all options off the cliff? I did, didn't I. Dang it...
Black Thumb, Green Thumb
Normally I hate gardening because I kill everything. I am surprised that we have had a few growers in this latest gardening battle.
The strawberries are doing well.
The lettuce is not.
The bell peppers are growing. While the stuff on the sides is taking it's sweet time.
My potatoes are amazing. I suspect secret miracle gro use in the middle of the night. Which is bad. Because they are organic with organic soil. But, I have no other way to explain it. Oh, wait. Except my Irish side were farmers. That must be it.
All my potatoes are doing well.
We are seeing a little growth on the raspberries.
And my asparagus has gone to seed. Shoot.
On the other hand, my onions are amazing like the potatoes. I think I need to trim them.
And a couple of herbs are coming in. All in all the starts are better than expected. Anything that shows promise will be replanted.
Court of Honor
Spencer had a court of honor. He had a little trouble adjusting when we moved and I am happy to see that he is so comfortable in scouts now.

Broken Window (Fallacy)
Well...it was bound to happen. Actually surprised it didn't happen sooner, what with four boys running around.
A bat and a ball led to a broken window.
And before you start harping that this is stimulating to the economy because now I have to pay the window man to repair the window, thereby moving more money into the system, I scream fallacy. I definitely would have found a better use for this money.
But at least slugger Riley didn't do more damage.
