James' Birthday - Part Three

James also got to choose where we ate dinner.  He chose Five Guys.

And then on Sunday evening it was time to say goodbye to Trevor and Penelope.  The weekend went by way too fast and the house was too quiet after we dropped James' siblings off.

I feel so blessed to be a part of all these children's lives.  Truly an adventure that was unexpected and yet so fulfilling.

James' Birthday - Part Two

James wanted to go ice skating.  He had been only once before - in second grade.

So we went.  It's his birthday.

It was the first time for half the crew.  They had no idea what to expect.

It was Riley's first time and Spencer's second time.  They both did so well.  Falling and getting back up again.  So proud of them.

Husband skates like a swan that glides but Ev had never been before.

Penelope had been once and was a great sport.

James and Penelope stuck to the wall for safety in the beginning.  Then they got more comfortable and got to skating.  Awesome!

I was planning to go and sit on the sides with the baby.  But since Husband took baby out, I got on the ice too.  A little risky considering my wankles.  They literally roll when I am standing still on flat ground.  But I ended up getting comfortable quickly and skating with reasonable confidence.

Trevor got on the ice several times but just never felt steady.

I'm proud of him for trying.

When he threw in the towel, baby was done and tired as well.  So Trevor sat with baby, cradled him in his arms so he could sleep, while everyone skated a little longer. It was really sweet of Trevor to do.

James and Penelope.

In the end no one got injured or hurt.  Yay!

So glad that we got to have this great activity with most of the crew.
