Hurricane Harvey

So...yeah.  Hurricane Harvey happened.  Welcome to Texas!

We did not flood.  But many around us did.

So the boys have been working on crews, helping to muck out houses, move furniture, and anything else that needs doing.  The work is incredibly vast.

If you flooded, then you have to remove the drywall and insulation in your home as fast as possible at least two feet above the waterline.  This is dirty, hard work.  Then you have to treat the wood to prevent mold growth.  And you have to haul out the ruined contents of your home.  It's been really hard.

But, here are a few lessons we have learned.

People are here are good.  So many times, it was strangers helping strangers to gut a house or to feed a crew or to provide needed supplies.

Community is important.

We are meant to be here.  Even if we came at a funny time.

And many hands make lighter work.

I love how hard they worked to keep their inside clean.  Just to flood.  Can you see the waterline.  This is life sometimes.  You do your best and face challenges anyway.

The boys had to learn that after working hard (which is good) they needed to remove their work boots (also good) or they would have to detail my car.

Haven't had a problem with muck in the car since.
