Ikea

This morning, I had to grab some shelving at Ikea and then some camping supplies at Costco.  All before Baby's naptime.

So I threw the boys in the car and off we went.  Only to get to Ikea and realize that it didn't open until ten.  It was 9:23am.  Argh.  I told the boys to grab their books (I always make them grab a book before we go anywhere), and get reading.  Then a few minutes later the front doors to the store opened and people went inside.

Open at 9:30 instead?  Awesome.  We went inside, got a cart, looked at the models and then headed downstairs to go toward the warehouse to pick up the shelves.

Only to find that area off limits because the store was not 'officially' open yet.  Just the areas leading to the food cafe.

So we waited at the locked area for two minutes.  Then the boys noticed the video cameras.  What would you do if you were a boy and had nearly twenty minutes to kill and there was a cool video camera recording you?

Yeah.  They did that and more.

So we headed back upstairs to the cafe.

Well played, Ikea.  Well played.

Spencer indulged in a cinnamon roll.

Riley got heart shaped waffles.

James got the Swedish breakfast.

Baby got lingonberry juice and some of everyone's.

After the cafe, we headed back down to a now open store and gathered our stuff.

At the checkout, one of the codes wasn't in the system, which created a delay and three extra people to solve.  While that was working itself out, Baby kicked Riley in the mouth, which knocked out a loose tooth, and created a lot of blood.

Riley got my attention and I swear I felt like I was talking to a vampire that had just fed.

James rushed Riley off to the boys restroom to clean up the blood.  The tooth was pocketed for the tooth fairy, and the sku was finally accepted.

Always an adventure at Ikea.

What the boys didn't realize is that they would be building the shelves.  All four sets.  I knocked three hours off of their bored destruction time.

Now they are washing the family car and tomorrow, we will be weeding the front and back yard.  Spring break...something they may never want to repeat.
